Well we were teased with some warm weather last week which makes me crave spring. It was spring break for us and we played at home this year. The biggest news is Ellie turned 14! I know, like me, you are shocked that I can have a child that old. We had a week of Ellie that started with her favorite treat from Aunt Kam which is a beautiful array of pastel macaroons. Her packages were wrapped in pink and blue and because no Cook would be involved with a party that didn’t have balloons I got a balloon bouquet of pink, mint, and a little gold for good taste. Not only was her party pretty it was fun. We celebrated by shopping with her best friend, a little bowling, family dinner and volleyball tournament rounded out of the week. Now it’s time to go back to school 🙂
So today I’m showcasing the value of pastels. It makes for a great soft backdrop and when done with a modern flair it looks so hip. Forget the 80s pastels. We are aren’t talking Miami Vice, we’re talking about beautiful blushes, a soft mint, and pale yellow that can be done so well and give the space a happy feel. So here’s to pastels in food, balloons, presents, and decor.
Happy Birthday to Ellie. I’m so proud of the young woman you have become. While you are complex and I can’t begin to understand you all of the time, I admire your logic, level headness, and your dedication to your grades and volleyball. You handle life’s bumps with grace, which I proved this weekend, was not learned from me (I’ll save my troublesome weekend for another post :). You are beautiful, loyal and kind. I love you.
