Well not only did we survive Thanksgiving but we had the best time! We had a total count of 26 people in our modest home and the food was amazing. I can't take credit for most it so I can brag, although I would brag even if I could take credit :) We had a great meal, some good drinks, and then fantastic music. The Cook family blessed us with their musical talents. I think everyone of the Willers cried at some point. My mom cried for most of the songs. My dad got teary eyed as they sang 1 of his long list of "funeral" songs. It was an amazing night. The Wheelers partied like rock stars, and then to give them true rock star status, they stayed and cleaned. We had the house back to normal before the end of the night. It was awesome.
From a decor perspective, we had to seat 26 people and provide a place setting which was not easy. I rented chairs for the day and we borrowed tables. Then Ellie N., Ellie W., Drew, Emma and Haili where each given a table to decorate. I gave them each a budget of $20. The week before the feast we gathered at my house and each person got to pick the plates, tablecloths and silverware they wanted for their table from my cabinets. Then we were off to Target and Michaels for some shopping. If they wanted fresh flowers they had to save some budget and those would be purchased the day before. It is amazing what they did. So today I'm posting some inspirational holiday tables.
For the perfect end to a holiday weekend we went on a limo ride to tour the holiday lights of Kansas City with the Wheelers. It started with a great dinner at the Wheelers, moved to dessert at McCormick and Schmidt's and then off to Westport Coffee to jump in the limo. We had a quick a stop at Crown Center for photo opts. Then we all snuggled in our stretch limo to stay warm and enjoy the company. It's been a lot of personal entries lately with a focus on family so it's time to get back to decor but for today enjoy my quick recap of the weekend. Most photos are courtesy of Ellie Noble and Ellie Wheeler which also explains the focus on them :)
Hope your holiday was as joyous! Happy Monday!
