Hi my friends!  It's been a long time.  But I'm back and excited to share all that has been going on with Noble Designs.  We have a big move, added staff and worked on some amazing projects that I can't wait to share.  For now, I'm posting some long overdue photos from my trip to High Point North Carolina for the furniture show.

Jessica and I went this last April and found lots of treasures.  It was the first time Jessica and I  had gone together.  I normally drag my mother but she politely passed this year :)  I love having her because she tolerates me better than anyone.  We get some great girl time that is hard to fit in otherwise.  I don't have to be polite as I storm through blocks and blocks of showrooms.  And what a trooper my mom is as she follows me around, finds us cocktails, and stays in the "less expensive" hotel accommodations.  The weather almost always rains on us but we both come back tired and happy.  So this partner change made me a little nervous.  I'm happy to report it worked out really well and poor mom...we got a great deal on a sweet hotel.  We had the easiest commute to market ever, best suite room (still at cheap price but there was a last minute cancellation), and the most beautiful weather ever.  Sorry mom.  It was great having Jessica along to discuss ideas and scout for clients.  I even think I behaved the whole time but I'll let Jessica confirm.

We continued to see brass as the finish of choice.  Glam was in with crystal.  Traditional pieces with bright color for pops of modern could be seen in our favorite showrooms.  So here are few pictures to share.  Tomorrow I'm off for Atlanta for the next market.  So stay tuned for more trends.

Noble Designs makes Kansas City Spaces Magazine Again!

I'm so excited to announce that my work is featured in Spaces magazine again!  This time the Sights' home is showcased as one of "6 kitchens that wow."  Melynn and Dan Sight were some of the kindest clients I have ever had.  Which means I got the chance to do a gut job on a kitchen which is one of my favorite projects, they implemented what was designed, it turned out beautiful and I got patient, kind, clients that made the process a joy.  For the cherry on top, it's featured in this month's magazine.  So be sure and check it out.  Aaron Leimkuehler's photographs show off the beauty of the space.

High Point Here We Come

I wrote this post 3 weeks ago but couldn't get uploaded from iPad  I was traveling with, so I'm finally back at it.  I have to laugh.  As you read on you'll see I planned to get the 7:30 bus.  Missed it!  Had to use Uber at a hefty expense:)  Oh well.  I have so much fun design stuff to share.  I'm really going to try to keep the blogs coming so you can I can share it all with you.

It's one of my favorite times of the year.  High Point Market.  It's the world's largest furniture and accessory market.  My mom and I are on our 5th trek to High Point North Carolina.  It is my favorite market to scout furniture for clients, but  it's also the best way to confirm and see  the upcoming trends.  I know I preach brass is back and I have know that for a couple of years because of High Point.  So we have just completed a long day of travel and ended up in a hotel that leaves a little to be desired.  This trip is large expense for Noble Designs so I try to be reasonable but affordable.  So we are at a reasonably clean room.  My mom spent 10 minutes trying to secure the drapes so no one could peak in and I made a quick stop at Bath and Body Works to get a wall flower that emits a fresh linen scent.  There was a bit of stench when we arrived.

But tomorrow the real fun begins.  I'm aiming to hit the 7:30 am shuttle so we can get an early start to see it all!  We never will see it all but we are going to try.  I will have lots of fun pictures to share soon.

But because I can't ignore the past couple of weeks I have to tell everyone about another celebration at my house.  Drew turned 12!  We celebrated with some gifts, ice cream cake and of course balloons.  We ended it with a KC Sporting game which was awesome!!!  We won in the 6 minutes added on at the end.  Drew will hate that I don't know what this is called but I feel like overtime is wrong.  Anyway it was great.  So today before my High Point highlights I'm celebrating with KC Sporting Blue!  I a little liberty with the shade of blue :)

Pretty Pastels for Spring

http://www.decorpad.com/photo.htm?photoId=117766&index=19&currentPage=0.  I got my first Kitchen Aid mixer for a wedding gift  from Grandma Gert.  It was a staple in the Woodhead home.  She used it better than me.  How great is this mint one?

Well we were teased with some warm weather last week which makes me crave spring.  It was spring break for us and we played at home this year.  The biggest news is Ellie turned 14!  I know, like me, you are shocked that I can have a child that old.  We had a week of Ellie that started with her favorite treat from Aunt Kam which is a beautiful array of pastel macaroons.  Her packages were wrapped in pink and blue and because no Cook would be involved with a party that didn't have balloons I got a balloon bouquet of pink, mint, and a little gold for good taste.  Not only was her party pretty it was fun.  We celebrated by shopping with her best friend, a little bowling, family dinner and volleyball tournament rounded out of the week.  Now it's time to go back to school :)

So today I'm showcasing the value of pastels.  It makes for a great soft backdrop and when done with a modern flair it looks so hip.  Forget the 80s pastels.  We are aren't talking Miami Vice, we're talking about beautiful blushes, a soft mint, and pale yellow that can be done so well and give the space a happy feel.  So here's to pastels in food, balloons, presents, and decor.

Happy Birthday to Ellie.  I'm so proud of the young woman you have become.  While you are complex and I can't begin to understand you all of the time, I admire your logic, level headness, and your dedication to your grades and volleyball.  You handle life's bumps with grace, which I proved this weekend, was not learned from me (I'll save my troublesome weekend for another post :).  You are beautiful, loyal and kind.  I love you.

Happy Thursday!

Love, Sara
